Our Mission
The Office of Pastoral Care provides spiritual support to patients, families, and staff, regardless of faith, tradition, or denomination.

As part of the health care team, the chaplains are committed to the care of the whole person, seeking to identify the spiritual needs of those they serve.

By connecting with the individual’s religious beliefs and attitudes, we seek to provide healthy and meaningful pastoral care for all who request our assistance or avail themselves of our services.

Chaplaincy Staff
The members of the UPMC Presbyterian interfaith pastoral care team are Reverend Dale Anderson, Father Jude Anyaeche, Reverend Andrea Buettner, Father Dozie Egbe, Reverend Carol Henley, Father Matthew Holahan, Father John Obasi, and Rabbi Larry Heimer. Rabbi Heimer is the manager for the pastoral care team. The chaplains are assigned to specific areas of the hospital and see patients by referral as well as by unit assignment.

Special volunteer Ministers of the Eucharist offer Communion to Catholic patients Sunday through Friday.

Scheduled Services
Catholic Mass is celebrated daily, Sunday through Friday, at 11:30 a.m. in the Meditation Room, located in UPMC Montefiore off the 7 Main lobby. Catholic Mass is celebrated Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Chapel, located in UPMC Presbyterian on the first floor.

An ecumenical Prayer Break of 15 minutes is offered each Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. in the UPMC Presbyterian Chapel, located on the first floor, and each Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. in the UPMC Montefiore Meditation Room, located on 7 Main.

Contact Information
